Architects have beaten Maximo Park to the top of the UK Record Store Chart on a week dominated by new releases. Julien Baker, A Winged Victory For The Sullen and The White Stripes also debut inside the Top 5, whilst more new entries further back come from the likes of Stereolab, The Wedding Present and Alice Cooper. It’s now nine years since The Official Charts Company launched this chart as vinyl sales surged during the last decade, a trend which continued in 2020 as the format grew for the 13th consecutive year. It is compiled from the best selling albums at 100 of Britain’s leading independent music shops.
