Ashli Babbitt's husband Aaron filed a civil lawsuit against the Metropolitan Police Department on June 1 The suit claims the department violated the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) by failing to respond to a request for records about his wife's fatal shooting He filed the request on April 21 and police missed a May 12 deadline to reply The suit aims to force cops to turn over records naming the cop who shot Babbitt as well as video of the shooting and details about the investigation It is separate from a $10million wrongful death lawsuit Babbitt's family said they was planning to file last month
