Two migrant boys at the Freeman Coliseum turned 18 this week. They celebrated their birthdays and release from the temporary shelter Thursday with pizza.
No longer considered unaccompanied minors, they’ll be united with relatives to pursue their asylum cases. As hard as they’ll try, they might ultimately lose.
One from El Salvador and the other from Guatemala, the young men were placed under the temporary supervision of Catholic Charities, the Archdiocese of San Antonio’s charitable arm that covered their airline tickets and hotel rooms.
