Jervis Middleton was fired from the Lexington Police Department on Friday He was accused of contacting a BLM activist last May and giving her details about tactics police intended to use at a George Floyd protest The Lexington-Fayette Urban County Council unanimously voted to fire Middleton after determining that his actions put fellow officers in jeopardy But Middleton's attorney argued that the information he provided was covered by free speech and that he didn't put anyone at risk The attorney also claimed Middleton had been frustrated because his complaints about racism within the LPD were ignored
