Brookline identifies superintendent finalist Wicked Local Brookline school officials have identified a potential new superintendent in Dr. Linus Guillory, Lowell Public Schools' chief schools officer. There were 18 candidates for the position, which has been open since former Superintendent Andrew Bott stepped down from the Public Schools of Brookline in July 2019. Bott was succeeded by former interim Superintendent Ben Lummis and current interim Dr. Jim Marini. Three of the candidates who applied for the permanent position were African American, two were Asian and the remainder white, according to School Committee member Helen Charlupski, who chairs the Superintendent Search Committee. The candidates were evenly split between men and women, Charlupski reported at the School Committee's Feb. 11 meeting.
