The recommendation came “out of an abundance of caution” following reports of blood clots in six women ages 18 to 48 who received the vaccine. The symptoms occurred six to 13 days after vaccination — one woman died and one has been hospitalized in critical condition. Riverside County residents scheduled to receive the one-shot vaccine this week at public health and mobile clinic sites will be offered alternative options, Public Health Officer Dr. Geoffrey Leung said during the Board of Supervisors meeting Tuesday morning. "We apologize for the inconvenience but safety is our top priority," Leung said, adding that he's hoping the pause will take days, not weeks.
