Share Updated: 4:12 PM CDT Jul 12, 2021 Arkansas catcher Casey Opitz has been selected in the 2021 MLB Draft as the 244th overall pick to the Chicago Cubs.After last year's draft was limited to five rounds, Opitz returned to the Hill to complete another year behind the plate for the Razorbacks.Opitz served as a Diamond Hogs captain and entered the 2020 season as a Baseball America Third Team Preseason All-American.The Colorado native started 55 games for the Hogs last season and ended the campaign with a .257 batting average. He tallied 49 hits an two home runs. He garnered SEC Player of the Week honors in March after the Alabama series.
