Charles Milliken: Under new administration, migrants are welcome

Charles Milliken
One major issue leaping to the front in the new administration is immigration. As we all know, immediately upon taking office, President Joe Biden conspicuously reversed all of the Trump administration’s policies on immigration. Construction on the wall would cease immediately, and I guess destruction might not be far behind.
Would-be migrants would no longer have to stay in Mexico awaiting adjudication for permission to cross — “catch and release” has returned. One foot in, and you’re in. With the new pathways to citizenship, you’re not only in, you’re in to stay. Unaccompanied minors, which the Trump administration kept in “cages” would now be welcomed with open and compassionate arms — and kept in various kinds of (overcrowded) “facilities.”
