Cheech Marin isn’t just a comedian, movie star and ’80s-era pot icon. He’s also one of the most notable collectors of Chicano art in the world today. Two things attest to this: his upcoming museum in Riverside, California — officially called the Cheech Marin Center for Chicano Art, Culture & Industry, but already nicknamed "The Cheech"; and his traveling show, “I want to encourage everyone in Colorado to come and see it,” Marin says. “It’s a wonderful collection of works on paper by amazing Chicano artists. This is our second volume of it, and we’ve traveled all over the country and played over fifty museums with this collection. It’s unheard of — a lot of museums don’t like showing private collections. But people just love it.”
