Jazz legend Chick Corea passed away aged 79 from a rare form of cancer on Tuesday, which his team revealed 'was only discovered very recently.'
The devastating news was announced on his Facebook page, in addition to a message from the electric keyboard pioneer for 'all those he knew and loved, and for all those who loved him.' 
In the posthumous note, he said: 'I want to thank all of those along my journey who have helped keep the music fires burning bright. It is my hope that those who have an inkling to play, write, perform or otherwise, do so.'
