CNIPA backs Acushnet in opposition against FUTLEWT mark

In early 2021, a trademark application was brought to the attention of Acushnet Company, a recognised global leader in the golf industry. While the applied-for mark seemed like an honest application at first sight, under scrutiny, it was clear that it had been deliberately arranged to make it visually almost identical to one of Acushnet's prior marks. The trick employed by the trademark squatter in this case has been on the radar of the China National Intellectual Property Administration for quite a while.
