Coachella Valley breaks 100 degrees for first time in 2021 As professional golfers were outside roaming the Coachella Valley's manicured fairways and greens for the ANA Inspiration on Saturday, temperatures soared above 100 degrees. It was the first time in 2021 that the valley saw a triple digit-scorcher, although it will be far from the last. According to the National Weather Service, the east valley led the way in terms of heat so far this weekend, with a sensor at the Jacqueline Cochran Regional Airport near Thermal topping out at 102 degrees. The heat wasn't just confined to the east, though, with a tracking system from the University of Utah reporting that Palm Springs also hit 100 degrees. The area didn't break 100 degrees last year until April 23.
