Morristown Daily Record Another Morris County downtown dining institution will permanently close its doors as the COVID-19 pandemic continues its crushing assault on the bar-and-restaurant industry. The owners of Collins Pub announced that it will close on Feb 15. "We are greatly saddened that we have to close the doors at this location just before Collins Pub’s 50th anniversary," the Alberto family posted Tuesday on the Collins Facebook page. Dominick Alberto bought the business in 2006 from Michael Collins, who opened the pub in a former Italian restaurant with his brother, Joe, on Nov. 15, 1971. Joe Collins left the business in 1988. Located across Speedwell Avenue from the busy Morris Plains train station and next door to another borough institution — Arthur's Tavern — the Irish-themed pub is at the crossroads of the borough's downtown district.
