Newark Advocate HARRISON TOWNSHIP -- A proposed 108-megawatt solar field would provide enormous financial benefits to the community and have limited impact on the environment or neighbors, the company said in a virtual meeting Thursday night. Union Ridge Solar, a subsidiary of Leeward Renewable Energy, said the solar field on 515 acres of Harrison Township farmland would require no clearing of the site, create no chemical runoff, no dust, no odors, no glare off the panels onto adjacent properties, negligible noise, limited water use, no zoning change and no negative impact on property values and or electric rates. “We are very sensitive to impacts to neighbors," LRE vice president of development John Wieland said. "We are going to be the long-term owner-operator of this facility. So, we do want to be a good neighbor.
