As 2020 comes to a close, we asked a theater and festival director, a bar owner and a teacher to tell us about their year and their hopes for 2021. Someday the show will go on A musical theater production or an arts festival both take months to plan. When the pandemic shut down the performing arts, Mike Lopinto had both in the works for June. Lopinto is the artistic administrator for the Hattiesburg, Miss. company Hub City Players, which was set to perform the regional premiere of “Kinky Boots.” The show would kick off the town’s annual FestivalSouth, where Lopinto is also a director.
