Mike Pritchard Tribute Concert is This Sunday in Lubbock

Mike Pritchard Tribute Concert is This Sunday in Lubbock
A few months ago, well known and beloved musician Mike Pritchard passed away in Lubbock.
Due to COVID-19 restrictions still being in effect for funeral homes at the time of Pritchard's death, only a memorial service for Pritchard's family could be held.
Well, coming up this Sunday there will be an all-day event held in northwest Lubbock to honor Pritchard's life.
"Friend's - Fest" will be held Sunday, July 11 from Noon-10pm at the Prima Vista Events Center at 402 North Inler Avenue.
Tickets can be purchased in advance of Sunday's event for $10 at Ralph's Records (82nd & Indiana in Lubbock); or for $15 at the door.

COVID-19 took away a lot from these Southerners but not hope for 2021

The American South
The performing arts, the hospitality industry and schools have been upended this year by the coronavirus pandemic. Theaters have been empty and silent. Bars and restaurants have dealt with restrictions that can seem to change daily. Teachers have been forced to master virtual learning.
As 2020 comes to a close, we asked a theater and festival director, a bar owner and a teacher to tell us about their year and their hopes for 2021.
Someday the show will go on
A musical theater production or an arts festival both take months to plan. When the pandemic shut down the performing arts, Mike Lopinto had both in the works for June. Lopinto is the artistic administrator for the Hattiesburg, Miss. company Hub City Players, which was set to perform the regional premiere of “Kinky Boots.” The show would kick off the town’s annual FestivalSouth, where Lopinto is also a director.
