USA TODAY NETWORK - Ohio Ten nursing homes in Ohio began distributing the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine Friday, paving the way for vaccinations that will begin in earnest Monday for elderly, medically vulnerable residents who account for most COVID-19 deaths in the state. Gov. Mike DeWine welcomed the inoculations, which included doses administered at two Stark County facilities. Shipments of the vaccine are expected to arrive in Summit County and other parts of the state next week as part of plan developed by the state in coordination with hospitals and public health officials. “This is the day we have all been waiting for,” DeWine said. “I can’t tell you how excited I am that today has arrived.”
