Whether it was expertly handling a breaking news story minutes before deadline or leaning his motorcycle deep into the diving left Turn 2 at Mosport Park, journalist Dave Dutton was the epitome of grace under pressure.
Well, maybe not the grace part. Dutton, who died Friday afternoon at The Ottawa Hospital of COVID-19, was an old-school newsman who cared little for niceties. His profane outbursts on the Ottawa Citizen night editing desk were legendary — and his fellow editors, and the reporters he guided and mentored, loved him for it.
