The Desert Hot Springs City Council upheld the Planning Commission's approval of 402 condos near 15th Avenue and Palm Drive on Tuesday night, denying an appeal from a nearby homeowners association that opposes the project. Marbella Villas is proposed for a vacant 25-acre site north of 15th Avenue and west of Palm Drive. The project would include 402 condominiums in 42 residential buildings, with 25 two-story buildings and 17 three-story buildings. Residents of Skys Haven, a nearby mobile home community for seniors, have argued that the project is incompatible with surrounding single-story mobile homes, and that it will increase traffic and negatively impact their quality of life.
