we need a system in place that ensures that individuals are either not priced out of the market -- >> reporter: and set off social media with the hashtag i am a pre-existing condition. the fine print of all of this comes down to what state a woman lives in. the new house-passed bill gives states the option to opt out of an obamacare provision which bans insurers from charging enrollees more based on their medical history. states that decide to do so, insurers could charge higher premiums to those with pre-existing conditions who let their coverage lapse. without knowing how many states would actually seek that path and how all of this would actually work yet means many people with pre-existing conditions, especially women, for now are left in limbo. also included in the house-passed bill is a provision that blocks planned parenthood from getting medic cade funding for one year. as the bill moves to the senate there will likely be significant changes ahead.
