good evening, phil. >> reporter: good evening, bret. despite the discovery of five weeks of oil and methane gas bubbles in and around the well, this afternoon, incident commander thad allen granting b.p. yet another 24-hour extension of the ongoing cap and well integrity test. b.p. and admiral allen determined that the new leaks are truly inconsequencial. >> let me classify the leaks. we have five very small leaks in and around the preventer and the stack itself. these are leaks through flanges or gases. oil might leak from your car. small drips, i would say. >> the confidence is due in large part to pressure readings underneath the new cap stack, 5,000 feet below the surface. currently, the pressure is 68034 psi. most importantly it continues rising, as it has been ever since thursday when the new cap stop almost all of the hydrocarbon flow in the gulf.
