marines. the program was almost scrapped back in 2000. that's after 23 people were killed in crashes. since then multiple redundancy systems have been built into the osprey to make it safer. a mechanic i spoke with who worked on the frog and osprey says he loves his new bird but it is quite complex. >> everything takes longer. you have to trouble shoot more. there is more that's put into working on the aircraft due to all the advanced components. >> the marine corps says the numbers show it has better safety ratings in recent years than its other helicopters in the marine corps. the navy and air force are developing programs. for you jon and jenna, if you never got to travel on an aircraft carrier, the navy will be using the osprey to bring vips and media in the future. >> looking forward to it.
