that it is simply impossible to comprehe comprehend. no one who lives here was untouched by the events of last saturday. over the past few days, i have repeatedly heard people ask, "how could such a thing have happened? and how could it have happened here, in our town, and to people so loved and so admired?" one of the characteristics that has always struck me about tucson's uniqueness is how such a vast metropolitan area of more than 1 million people can function so much like a small college town.
