the problem of this candidacy, this is the new newt, this isn't the old newt, the guy who was the only speaker in the united states to have been admonished for, oh, what, using college courses for political purposes. he's this outsider and been doing all these good works and he's calm and reformed and he's found god. that's the whole premise. the thing about the comments he made is that's the old newt. that's the true vindictive person who's in there. i think it's just a matter of time before we see more of that come to the surface. >> i think we think of old newt, the so-called bad newt as a person who's vindictive against his political enemies, a person sharp tongued in a way that sometimes didn't serve him well against people that were his political equals. this is picking as a scapegoat, kids. and he -- after doing it -- he hasn't backed off of it so much as he keeps explaining it. he does get applause for it at republican events. the question is not so much what this says about him but about the tenner of the country.
