DURHAM — Oyster River High School senior Maggie Sperry was dressed up in a black, sparkly, full-length gown. "This is the dress I was supposed to wear last year," Sperry said Wednesday night. "I was on the prom committee and then it was canceled. Everyone was skeptical about a prom on the field, but this is nice. At least it's something." Oyster River High School juniors and seniors gathered outside, on the school's turf field, Wednesday to celebrate what was cleverly called a Mask-erade, instead of a prom. Sperry said she feels she has lost half of her senior year because of COVID-19. Her friend Matteo Caruccio said they all have lost so much.
