Emma E. Simmons. FRIENDSHIP — Emma E. Simmons, 84, passed away peacefully on May 14, 2021 at her home in Friendship. She was born September 7, 1936 in Thomaston, Maine, the daughter of Esther (Swanson) and Walter Matson. Emma attended Thomaston High School – “The Sea Breeze” — and graduated in the Class of 1954. Her first job as a teenager was at Wallace’s Market, in Friendship. She was a 33-year employee at Sylvania, in Waldoboro. Emma was a very independent and a hard worker her whole life; these traits she passed on to her children and grandchildren. She was fortunate in her later years to finally enjoy her special interest in traveling. She traveled to many places across the United States with her late husband Donald Simmons.
