Hunter might be president. We got a pandemic, economic problems, race issues and the freaking dodgers are in the world series. Come on, man. Is so what are the last two weeks of the election going to look like . Oh, probably holy hell. But joining me on tonights Fabulous Party panel, its town hall. Matt, i want to start with you because i feel like a lot of people are feeling this is the most consequential election of our lifetime or anyone elses lifetime, and i think thats an overexaggeration. What are we missing here . What is the media hyperfocusing on that the rationalists feel is a bunch of hogwash, and what should we be looking at . Its the history of lifetimes. No, that style of thinking, the whole flight 93 election which you see on the right and on the left, its a, it never stops, right . It can only escalate. And so while its clenching, that is actually giving incentives to people who would be authoritarians or authoritarian lights or who just accumulate power in washington whether theyre democrats or republicans. Youre egging them on when you say that stuff. Youre saying, please, take the club and beat my opponents with it. The other thing theyre missing is, hey, look, last time around almost 8 Million People didnt vote for those teams. Who are they going to vote for this time and why, thats one of the most underrated things about this election. Many of those people are choosing biden. Thats a big problem that President Trump has. Thats why hes out there saying youve got to woo libertarians. Hey, im doing all this libertarian stuff you didnt notice kennedy that they havent really been doing. Which is fine. I think its fantastic, but i also think we get easily mise directed, guy, and, you know, some of it is by President Trumps twitter account and the other is by journalists that are very labely, following that account and things like it. In your estimation, and you are slightly more conservative, how do you see it . First of all, we missed you so much, and were so thrilled that youre back. I think i speak for all of us here and many people at home. I am curious why youre already scraping the bottom of the barrel with me on this program kennedy youre the best mistakes were made. Mistakes were made already are. If President Trump wants to appeal to libertarians, and i think hes got a few arguments that he could perhaps tout, others that he should maybe not mention, he could just tweet out once a day with no accompanying commentary just a head shot of neil gorsuch, Supreme Court justice. Just be like, i did that, i totally did that. And i think a lot of kennedy im glad you brought that up. Were going to talk about that later in the show. Go ahead and finish your thought, dear. We will. I think that this election is still primarily about coronavirus and the various ripples emanating from that crisis including the economic crisis. And we see in poll after poll that joe biden is leading on the issue of handling coronavirus, President Trump is leading on the issue of the economy. If people are feeling better about where the virus is and what the status quo is, i think the economy could creep back up and help President Trump. Sort of running out of time on that, why joe biden in all of this polling remains ahead. Kennedy yeah, i dont know if thats going to happen. What would have to happen, jessica, it seems like a coronavirus would somehow have to mutate in the next two weeks and actually be good for people and magically earn them money. [laughter] do you think that will happen . I mean, wilder things have happened. Donald trump is president of the United States of america. But i feel like unless we get everyone a personal dose of regeneron, which is the cureall for anyone even feeling a little . Irly, that the sniffley, that the dynamics of this race are not going to change. Weve been talking about this all summer, how stable it is. Its as stable as joe biden was, frankly, from South Carolina onwards and into this general election. And i dont foresee that changing. And to matts point about how independents and undecideds or unafail created unaffiliated people didnt go for east candidate, joe biden doesnt p if iss as many people off piss as many people off oh, is that not allowed . Especially on night one . But maybe because this actually is a battle for the soul of the nation. Kennedy yes, and, you know what . Im glad you brought that up, im going to be talking to joe, whos running for president. Thats really happening. President ial candidate joe yes. Kennedy is on the show. Earlier today the president whos president right now, he said hes very confident hes going to win in two weeks, round two. Listen to this. Going to be a repeat of 2016 . I think so. I think well do better of 2016. Were way ahead of where we were x we built the greatest economy in the world, and were building it rapidly again. If you look at arizona, you look at the job theyve done, and im just leaving for other states, every one of these republicanrun states are doing phenomenally. The democratrun states are not, but theyre not going to affect our numbers very much. Kennedy behind the scenes some Trump Supporters arent so much sure. The failing New York Times reports staffers have begun looking for new jobs on capitol hill. Thats optimistic. That doesnt mean its a lock for democrats. On the left theres real worry about some 2016 deja vu where trump snatches victory from the jaws of defeat. So who should be nervous here. Guy, i will start with you, or because you have worked on the hill. You know what its like to have to scramble for jobs. How real is the fear in the administration that some of these people will be unemployed come january . Just as a fact check, i have not lived on the hill, but i live here. Kennedy you seem hilllike. I thought i saw you at a mixer. [laughter] yeah. I may have been at a mixer, just not as a staffer. Look, i think republicans probably have more to be worried about right now based on a lot of the polling, which could be wrong. But i would say that there are elements that cut in each direction. If i were a republican, what id be nervous about is that joe biden is not nearly as this is to jessicas point not nearly as disliked as Hillary Clinton was. Kennedy amen. Thats the biggest thing that hes got going for him. That is sad for him, but youre absolutely right. Go ahead. Its a huge one. His fair about rating favorability rating is so much better than his, that creates an issue of trumps trying to climb the hill and come back. Be nervous for some of this id be nervous for some of this Voter Registration data. Republicans have been working very hard for the last four years closing the gap on registrations, and if this comes down to a close election, that actually could tip things back towards trump in another epic upset. Kennedy thats the thing, there are so many issues that are so weird. And if you looked at the voting pattern, a lot of democrats have already voted, and they say their going to theyre going to vote by mail as opposed to voting in person. And youve seen a lot of early voting so far. The worry for democrats could be that if you hear these poll numbers, that joe biden is 9 points ahead nationally, that, you know, they feel its a lock and they stay home. Im not that worried about it this time around. And then we lose, and then you have to listen to me cry for four years on your program. But i dont think that democrats are going to do that especially considering what happened last time, especially with the progressive left. There were a lot of bernie supporters who were so turned off from the primary and thought they didnt get their way on the issues that really mattered, bernie didnt pull the platform quite left enough, a couple hundred thousands of them voted for jill scott. Now theyve seen what a Donald Trump Administration looks like, and it is at least as bad if not worse than what they thought. So im not concerned about that kennedy i disagree with you there okay. Kennedy if you stay in the trump administration, youre going to make so much money when you sell your tellall. Betsy devos . Shes going to be rich. Shes already rich. In fact, the first the final president ial debate is scheduled for this thursday. The Trump Campaign spokesperson says theyre already raising a ruckus. Today bill stepian sent a letter to the commission on president ial debates, or as hes calling them, the biden Debate Commission, urging them to make Foreign Policy a focus. And the president further laid into the commission this afternoon. Watch. Ive done very well in debates. You know, you do what you do. The last debate i had two on one. I usually have two on one at least, and i did well in the last debate, and we did well with savannah guthrie, based on reports. Kennedy despite the trash talk, sources within the president s campaign say trump will do less interrupting, and quote, 2kweu6 joe biden a little bit more room to explain himself on some of these issues. And your president was undisciplined, and he could have peppered the debate with a few well of placed interruptions, but it was way too much. Does he have the wherewithal to change course because he really needs a win here. Well, of course we think the president won the debate the first time kennedy come on, man. In fact, joe biden, we believe, came in third behind and behind chris wallace. But, you know, i think maybe there is some thoughts of giving joe biden a little bit of room to give himself enough rope in this next debate, which we had thought was going to be focused on Foreign Policy because thats what the Debate Commission told us it was going to be, and thats what the tradition has been for this third debatement but joe biden is going to want some room, i think, because he needs to answer the question about what we have learned from Hunter Bidens laptop. These emails that proved that he lied about never having discussed his shady foreign business dealings. And now that there was an agreement with hunter and his Business Partners to actually cut joe biden himself in on the action and give him a 10 stake in this Chinese Energy company that has very close ties to communist china. So the question that joe biden should be forced to answer thursday night is are you, as a candidate for president of the United States, compromised by the communist chinese. Very important question. And ill tell you what, Foreign Policy issues are not, ill bet you President Trump finds time to put that question to joe biden. Kennedy well, he doesnt have to. He shouldnt have to because a good debate moderator whos worth her salt would pose that question because there are some Critical Issues at stake regardless of, you know, sort of the weird elements surrounding the a laptop dropoff and retrieval process. I want to know was he in any way benefiting from his sons relationships. You know, forget brees burisma, this really is about millions and millions of dollars coming from china. And if not, if its stolen, fabricated, go ahead and issue a believable denial with some proof. And theyeyen havent done that t this point. So who sits down and talks with the president after the debate performance . Because, you know, pretty much everybody said he interrupted too much. Well, we think the president did very well, as i just told kennedy no, you dont. No. Won the first debate kennedy no, you dont. We also think he won the most recent debate with savannah guthrie. She asked to 43 questions from only 10 from the audience members. Joe biden would have to face what his own defense secretary when he said joe biden has been wrong on every single Foreign Policy call in the last four decades. And its no wonder that joe biden would not want to have a Foreign Policy debate, and the commission is doing his bidding and now moving away again ceding the rules to joe bidens wish because we know that biden doesnt want to fight on that ground because the president has a Foreign Policy record that really cant be matched. These peace ea cords that he struck between us israel, the uae and bahrain are things that Joe Biden Kennedy all right, well, this is my, this is my advice for you, and you can go ahead and tell this to your boss. If the moderator asks dumb questions, and we know theres going to be mute buttons so the president is not going to have the opportunity to interrupt, and joe biden wont be counterinterrupting. If the moderator asks dumb questions, tell the president to ask his own question, because that may be what needs to happen here, and i agree with you. You know, there are some areas where there are great weaknesses within the administration. Foreign policy, you can argue, is certainly a strength. So well see how it goes. We will all be watching.
