Sanguinetti, who is scheduled to appear in court next month, could not be reached for comment. “All city officials and some city employees are required to publicly disclose their personal financial interests,” said Patrick Ford, Policy and Legislative Counsel for the San Francisco Ethics Commission. Ford stressed that he can't talk about any specific cases, including this one, but said financial disclosure forms are a key tool to hold public officials accountable. “It’s an important safeguard,” Ford said. “The failure to file those forms or fill them out accurately creates a danger for conflict of interests.” The District Attorney’s office says that SDL was paid $262,947 to provide DPW workers shirts and other swag between 2013 and 2019, the year Sanguinetti left the city.
