WILLIAMSPORT -- After two years the federal government says it no longer wants the $850,594 seized from two vehicles during traffic stops on Interstate 80 in 2018.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Shawn A. Camoni Monday asked U.S. Middle District Judge Matthew W. Brann to dismiss the government’s motion for forfeiture of the money being held by the FBI.
He did not state reason for the decision and attempts were unsuccessful to learn if the criminal investigation into suspected money laundering continues. No one has ever been charged.
Lin was driving the vehicle stopped Feb. 21, 2018, in Liberty Twp., Montour County. Yang was the operator of a rental vehicle pulled over April 30, 2018, in Columbia County.
