Hinoya Curry, a popular Japanese curry restaurant with dozens of Tokyo locations, made its much-hyped debut in the United States last month in San Francisco. But after a busy soft opening where over 100 people lined up for its new Marina location, the restaurant mysteriously papered over the "Hinoya" logo in the "Hinoya Curry SF" sign, leading San Franciscans to wonder — had something happened?
It was initially reported that the restaurant at 3347 Fillmore Street was temporarily closing due to permitting issues, and that information circulated on social media. But Thomas Uehara, chief executive of the restaurant, clarified the situation.
