By Houstonia Staff 4/20/2021 at 5:58pm Almost a year after the death of Houston native George Floyd, a Minnesota jury Tuesday afternoon found Derek Chauvin, the police officer who knelt on his neck for nearly nine minutes, guilty of murder. The jury convicted Chauvin on three charges: second and third-degree murder and second-degree manslaughter. While his sentencing wonât occur for another eight weeks, the presiding judge, Peter Cahill, ordered his bond be rescinded and Chauvin be placed in police custody.Â
