trajectory. he's thinking that maybe he's fits into history and that grand way. it's a pretty grand way to see yourself, but then i think if you're thinking about run for president you probably have a pretty health of your place in history anyway. >> you need a little ego probably to run for president. you make another interesting point, matt. the last candidate to be elected president without having run statewide or national office was dwight eisenhower. he hadn't been married three times. i guess the question is, with the baggage, can newt win? >> well, look, i mean, no one should answer that question about any candidate at this stage of the campaign. is he, you know, donald trump? a fringe figure no. i think newt gingrich is a political figure. top tier candidate? that's harder to say. chris, i tell you what i think is the real challenge he faces from a personality standpoint. and that is i've written this about him in the past. he is a historian by training, futurist by temperament, but he doesn't always do so well in the present. in the present tense he tends to have problems with discipline, he doesn't always gauge reaction
