Retail sales in the UK showed a partial recovery in August, increasing by 0.4% compared to a sharp fall in July, according to official figures. The recovery was driven by food sales and a strong month for clothing, although internet sales dropped slightly. The country's inflation rate remained high at 6.7%, but this was the sixth time in 2023 that sales volumes rose on a month-to-month basis.
