The Making of a Snowy Day: An Opera for All
Houston Grand Opera's world premiere of
The Snowy Day, a new opera based on the Ezra Jack Keats’s beloved children’s book of the same name, has been delayed until the 2021-22 season, but audiences will be able to get a taste of the upcoming production in this new documentary from award-winning filmmaker Annalise Ophelian. The free film goes behind the scenes, delving into how composer Joel Thompson, librettist Andrea Davis Pinkney, and the entire HGO creative team adapted the Caldecott Medal-winning story about Peter and his day of fun in the snow for the operatic stage.
