Mission District favorite Mission Cheese has announced it’s closing permanently.
The restaurant/cheese shop has occupied its Valencia storefront for nearly 10 years, selling a variety of cheese in addition to a small menu of cheese-focused small plates and beer and wine.
The announcement was made this week via Instagram. “This little cheese place is going to sleep at the end of the month,” the post said. “After nearly 10 years of slinging amazing American cheeses, this decision has so many layers, and is not one that was made lightly. Operating as we have had to since March, with little relief, is a major component...but by far not the only one. Much has to be done to change the way we as a community interact with and manage small independent businesses if we want them to exist.”
