As conservatives across the country have denounced President Donald Trump’s role in Wednesday’s insurrection, a local state representative has publicly said blame doesn’t lie with the president. State Rep. Aaron Bernstine, R-10, made a post on Wednesday night after protesters stormed the U.S. Capitol in an attempt to stop the certification of presidential election results, resulting in violence, arrests and deaths, decrying the "left-wing media" after the New Castle News shared an opinion piece on the day's events. "It was NOT the fault of President Trump that some chose to destroy property," Bernstine wrote. "When people commit crimes, the criminal is responsible. Just as no politician was responsible when BLM burned buildings and looted businesses, President Trump is not responsible for the few who damaged the US Capitol Building. It’s time to actually hold criminals responsible!"
