Could the possibility of winning millions of dollars push more people to get vaccinated? Some states think so.
Ohio, New York, Maryland and Oregon are offering the chance for residents who have received their Covid-19 vaccine to win mega-cash prizes through their lottery programs.
Now, the White House has expressed support for such lotteries—which could push more states to offer them. But some lawmakers and ethicists question if these programs are a good idea.
