25 May 2021 Established in 1951, IOM is a Related Organization of the United Nations, and as the leading UN agency in the field of migration, works closely with governmental, intergovernmental and non-governmental partners. IOM is dedicated to promoting humane and orderly migration for the benefit of all. It does so by providing services and advice to governments and migrants. Context: Background information IOM Micronesia Mission includes Offices in the Federated States of Micronesia, the Republic of the Marshall Islands, and the Republic of Palau. Key priorities of IOM in Micronesia are: to support Member States and communities in benefitting from migration as a sustainable development and climate change adaptation strategy; to protect and build resilience of displaced population and affected communities from the impact of natural disasters and climate change; to support protection of migrants and ensure migration occurs in a safe, orderly and dignified manner. The Mission is in the process of updating its country strategy over 2021.
