Jack Dorsey's Square buys majority stake in Tidal as Jay-Z b

Square will pay $297 million in cash and stock for Tidal
Jay-Z will be named to Square's board of directors
He and other artists who currently own shares in Tidal will remain stakeholders
'I'm grateful for Jay's vision, wisdom, and leadership,' Dorsey said in a statement that was shared on Twitter Thursday
In a statement he also shared on Twitter, Jay-Z called Dorsey one of the 'greatest minds of our time' 
Tidal will operate as a distinct entity alongside the point-of-sale hardware and software offerings of San Francisco-based Square
