Blaauw, the overnight leader, played in the slightly more windy afternoon conditions to join Ko on nine-under - one stroke clear of New Zealand's Daniel Hillier. Blaauw's round got off to a shaky start as he bogeyed his first hole on Friday. He held his game together and came inches close to taking the outright lead on the ninth - his final hole. But his birdie putt lipped out. "It was tricky with the wind in the beginning. I played it as a two-club wind, and then luckily, it died down towards the end of the round. I had a target of reaching 10 under today and came up one short. But I'm very pleased and looking forward to the weekend here in Cape Town, where I grew up," he said.
