Jacques Blaauw on top going into the weekend of the
Cape Town Open at the Royal Cape Golf Club.
Blaauw, the overnight leader, played in the slightly more windy afternoon conditions to join Ko on nine-under - one stroke clear of New Zealand s Daniel Hillier.
Blaauw s round got off to a shaky start as he bogeyed his first hole on Friday. He held his game together and came inches close to taking the outright lead on the ninth - his final hole. But his birdie putt lipped out. It was tricky with the wind in the beginning. I played it as a two-club wind, and then luckily, it died down towards the end of the round. I had a target of reaching 10 under today and came up one short. But I m very pleased and looking forward to the weekend here in Cape Town, where I grew up, he said.
