James Murdoch, the youngest son of media mogul Rupert Murdoch, invested $100 million in his foundation, a large portion of which helped fund various political groups during the 2020 election. James Murdoch and his wife, Kathryn Murdoch, made the donation through their foundation Quadrivium, according to the group's 2019 tax return, which was obtained by CNBC. The donation came as the couple was establishing its own political relevance and marks the largest contribution to its foundation or any political effort, the news outlet noted. ADVERTISEMENT According to the tax document, more than $25 million of the $100 million donated went toward grants for several political causes, CNBC reported. Quadrivium also committed to donating more than $43 million to climate-related groups, and more than $38 million was spent funding election organizations, including some focused on protecting voting rights.
