Investigators say the suspect accused the victim of cutting in front of him while they waited in line. The two men argued and they went separately to the parking lot when witnesses say they heard gunshots. Turning to prepping your home for the cold weather and how best to protect your family from the spread of the coronavirus. I spoke earlier with dr. Darian sutton. Dr. Sutton, thank you so much for joining us this morning. Lets start with the big headlines from this weekend. Were close to 1 Million Deaths worldwide. 33 states are seeing an increase in cases. In wisconsin, more than 27 of tests are coming back positive. That number ideally should be in the low single digits. The respected university of washington forecasters warn of a major winter surge. Not a lot of good news. Whats your take on where things stand . Its distressing. When that number comes up that high, it means three things. Number one, this virus is very present and persistent. Number two, our behaviors are likely accelerating its spread. The third is many people who are likely sick or symptomatic are the only people getting tested in that situation, so its likely there are many cases that continue to go undetected. A new study shows about 9 of the country has been exposed to the coronavirus. Thats a long way from herd immunity to the virus. Does that put even more pressure on the race for a vaccine . Given the wealth and resources of the United States, i consider us discussing the use of herd immunity via natural infection as a failure in terms of our response to this pandemic. Herd immunity is quite complicated. Although a vaccine could provide help, theres still many variables to be answered. Number one, the effectiveness of this vaccine, availability to provide it to everyone and participation are questions for answered, and the continuing question of waning antibody levels on those who have already been naturally infected. We still have a lot of things to be answered in terms of herd immunity and vaccine use, but there are tools we know to be effective. That includes wearing a mask, socially distancing, providing accessible testing to everyone. Those are key traits that we can use and are honestly better than any known treatment or vaccine that we currently have. The coldest air of the season is hitting much of the midwest and parts of south. As more people head indoors, what can be done to keep the virus at bay . Protection does not have to be complicated or expensive. I advise the same thing to all of my patients. Making sure to take caution around those who you dont live with by wearing a mask. Washing your hands and socially distancing. Avoiding indoor environments that have closed circulation like air conditioning or heating. Making sure to get tested if you are symptomatic. These are key things that we need to continue doing to prevent this virus. And i know that is extremely exhausting, but we have to make sure that we remain vigilant as this virus is very much present. Our thanks to dr. Sutton, who kept hammering that message weve been hearing since march, wash your hands, remain six feet apart if you can, wear a mask. He says thats still the best way to protect ourselves in this climate. I saw a story over the weekend about what types of weather are good for, you know if its sunny, then yeah, go outside, keep a social distance. If its overcast, cloudy, those are times where you could be more susceptible to getting a virus. So Pay Attention to those things. So much to think about. The date is almost october 1st, yall. Coming up, the history that was made sunday at the washington browns game. It happened both on the field and the sidelines. The heat eliminate the Boston Celtics in six games.
