Reporter however, sources close to the president tell abc7 news he was in fact having difficulty breathing and received supplemental oxygen at the white house after his oxygen levels dropped. A source familiar with the president s health told reporters shortly after his vitals over the last 24 hours were very concerning, and the next 48 hours will be critical in terms of his care. We are still not on a clear path to a full recovery. Multiple news outlets now reporting it was white house chief of staff mark meadows who made those comments. Also, many questions about when trump was diagnosed. His doctor issuing a memo clarifying the timeline, saying he incorrectly used the term 72 hours in the News Conference earlier today when he meant day three, and 48 hours when he meant day 2. Many now focusing on this rose garden ceremony last saturday for Supreme Court nominee Amy Coney Barrett as a potential super spreader event. Several in attendance confirmed positive, including chris christie, who was part of the president s debate prep team. The former new jersey governor announced this evening he checked himself into a hospital as a precautionary measure because of his history with asthma. Reporter reassuring words tonight from president donald trump. But dr. Robert wachter, chair of the department of medicine at ucsf says the president s health remains uncertain. We certainly see people that do this, and they come up a little bit, and the next day they crash. Reporter dr. Wachters biggest concern is that President Trump was allegedly given oxygen at the white house, indicating the virus may have affect his lungs. Reporter now that his oxygen level has fallen we know that he is at risk of bad case of covid pneumonia. The key is that his oxygen level is low. Sometimes people come to the Emergency Department and we sometimes slap on a little oxygen. Its not a big deal. Knowing he did get it because he actually needed it is very important. Reporter a diagnosis that of course uc hastings law professor could potentially change the president ial race. This could play either to his detriment with people who will be accusing him of downplaying the pandemic and sort of learning from his own mistakes, or he could ride on a wave of sympathy from behind and recover the problems with his current campaign. Reporter now exactly a month from the election, there is a question that lingers. If the 25th amendment is invoked, who will be on the ballot . What might happen is pence will take over the president ial duties temporarily. Reporter President Trump is 74 years old and is clinically overweight, two factors that place him under the high risk category for recovery. He is not out of the woods. If you take all people of his age and his situation at this point in the progression, you would have to say his chance of passing away from this is at least 10 . Reporter dr. Wachter also believes there is a chance that President Trump could be contagious after recovery. Reporter cal fire Public Information officer Jason Shanley explained air drops like this take precision. What theyre fighting here is a hot spot are from the glass fire. An ember could come and start something, and before you know it, you have another 500 ache owners your hands, because of the winds. It pushes everything. Reporter gusty winds returned saturday afternoon. The clearing of smoke during the day allowed for very hot and dry conditions, prompting a red flag warning. The fire is slowly backing down the hill. Reporter fire officials tell me they dont need engines where the hot spot is at. What they need is people. Thats why this crew is walking by foot. So think about that. This fire is not the only thing thats affected by red flag warnings. The firefighters also, it takes a toll on their body. Reporter the hot spot is burning above cal fire, sonoma lake and napa unit headquarters and is down the road from bail gristmill, a historic landmark. Xitlaly vasquex is watching the fire from afar, even though she was told to evacuate. Were aware. Were vigilant. And we have been told to evacuate two days ago, but we are were ready to go if needed. Reporter shanley asked residents who have evacuated to be patient. The glass fires currently threatening more than 20,000 structures. Just understand there is so much going on right now, and the last thing we would want to do is put a resident in harms way. By nightfall, the winds had calmed down, and fire crews lit a back burn. In st. Helena, Lauren Martinez, abc7 news. Lets get a better idea of conditions those firefighters face, and also the high fire warning right now for parts of the bay area. Abc7 news meteorologist drew tuma tracking it all for us. Drew, we need some good news here. Yeah, and you know what . Were under another red flag warning, dion. But its not lasting too much longer. The red flag warning in effect for the north bay mountains, the areas shalded in red on your screen, it includes lake county, will only be in effect for the next seven hours. It will expire at 6 00 a. M. Tomorrow morning. But were still tracking northwesterly winds gusting between 25 and 35 Miles Per Hour. So well take a look at current winds in our hills. And you can see in the north bay, they are active. We have gusts anywhere from say 20 to 25 Miles Per Hour right now. Overnight, well have that red flag warning, but watch what happens. At 6 00 a. M. Tomorrow morning in the north bay, the forecasted winds really decrease pretty rapidly. By 6 00 a. M. , we do expect winds to be on the light side. And it looks like that will remain the case for much of the day, even into sunday afternoon. Those winds remain less than 10 Miles Per Hour. So only a few more hours left of these gusty winds in the north bay, and the winds will finally relax tomorrow. And then extended, dion, were tracking the return of rain. And location is really key as to what type of air youre currently breathing. You can see from fairfield and especially into vacaville we have moderate to unhealthy air quality. The worst air qualit in california is in the Central Valley. You can see a lot of green dots close to the coast. We have a sea breeze and fog mixing in fresh air. Around the bay shoreline most areas are moderate air quality, meaning levels range between 51 and 100 right now. Tomorrow, though, and through tuesday, we have spare the air days expected as our air quality will continue to have smoke. Not only from the glass fire, but from fires burning across Northern California currently still in our atmosphere. So tomorrow the worst air quality will be in the north bay and in the east bay, where we will find unhealthy air quality at times. Monday and tuesday, we fluctuate between moderate and poor air quality. But by wednesday, we are expecting our winds to shift. More of an onshore breeze, meaning that wind is coming off of the ocean water, bringing fresh air that should keep our air quality in the moderate range by midweek. The republican senator, senator Lindsey Graham saying that he intends to have this areas as scheduled on october 12th. He says the two republicans on that Committee Senators lee and senator tillis, who are both suffering from covid, he says that they can participate remotely, even cast their vote by proxy in the committee. But this potentially turns into a much, much larger issue for republicans if and likely when her nomination moves on the committee to the floor of the u. S. Senate. Youve probably heard those three words over and over again the past three months as politicians have voted the best way to vote during a pandemic. Spoil alert. Nothing is the best during a pandemic. But here in california, we do have a long history of voting by mail. So grab a notepad. Here whats you need to know to make sure you do it right and on time so that your vote is counted. First, you should know that every single registered voter in california will be sent a mailin ballot. Counties have to send it out by monday, october 5th. So expect to get your ballot some time in early october. If youre not registered to vote yet, you can easily do so online or by mail. The deadline is monday, october 19th. If you miss that date, you can still register and vote, but you have to do it in person at your countys registrar of Voters Office. Those ballots take a little longer to count. Which brings us to timing. With all this talk about delays in the post, we all want to know what is the best way to make sure our ballots are received and counted. The simplest answer is to send it in early. You can mail it in, no postage required, or you can bring to it a ballot dropbox, your county registrar of Voters Office or a nearby polling location. Some of those will begin opening in early october. You can also still vote in person. If you do so, it is recommended you bring your mailin ballot so you can swap it out. The most number one thing you have to do is sign it. Military rescuers parachuted into the pacific to safe a fishing boat captain who suffered a possible stroke in hawaii. The coast guard provided this video here of air National Rescue guard specialists leaping from a moving plane to reach the man 150 miles from hawaiis big island. Once on board the fishing boat, they treated the 73yearold mariner and prepared him to be airlifted by helicopter. A navy chopper then flew him to a hospital where he is being treated.
