Knicks waive Myles Powell, Michael Kidd-Gilchrist Updated Dec 20, 2020; Posted Dec 20, 2020 Facebook Share The Knicks are cutting the Jersey Boys loose. The team on Saturday waived former Seton Hall star Myles Powell and former Kentucky standout Michael Kidd-Gilchrist. One or both could now be headed for the Westchester Knicks, the team’s G-League outfit. The Knicks are expected to opt-in to the G League bubble beginning next month for a limited number of games. The Knicks made the moves after completing the preseason 3-1. They open the regular season Wednesday at Indiana. The 6-2 Powell signed with the Knicks as an undrafted free agent after winning Big East Player of the Year honors last season and the Jerry West Award as the nation’s top shooting guard. The Trenton native became the first Pirate named to the Associated Press All-America first team since 1953 after averaging 21.0 points and 3.4 assists. He will eventually have his No. 13 retired by Seton Hall.
