It said refunds were delayed early in the pandemic but its caught up now. A spokesperson added we certainly appreciate our guests patient in this unprecedented interruption to our business. Kudos to carnival for stepping up. As for the travel agent, let me say this. Weve heard from lots of folks whose refunds have gotten hung up with various travel agencies. Some people faced unexpected fees. So if you decide to book through a travel agent, first ask them how they handle changes, cancellations and refunds and insist on seeing a list of possible fees up front. President trump back at the white house after being discharged from
Walter Reed Hospital after being treated for covid19. This comes hours after his doctors warn they dont know for at least a week whether he will recover from the virus. This morning
President Trump tweeting thought cold and flu season is coming up many people every year sometimes more than 100,000 and despite the vaccine die from the flu. Are we going to close down the country . No. We have learned to live with it just like were learning to live with covid. Marine one landed at the white house, the president leaving the helicopter wearing a mask but reappears on the balcony talking and taking off his mask in a video tweet. And now im better and maybe im immune. I dont know. But dont let it dominate your lives. Get out there. Be careful. Doctors say hes cleared to go home. Questions remain about the scope of the outbreak inside the white house. A prominent
Southern California pastor has tested positive after attending a rose garden event. Pastor greg laurie is the head in riverside, corona and irvine. He attend add prayer march in washington, d. C. , with
Vice President pence and attended the rose garden ceremony announcing

Coming up on the today show they are live with the latest on the president s recovery and reaction to the president leaving walter reed while still infected with the virus. Today begins at 7 00 a. M. Right after today in the bay. Just in time for the change in the weather. Santa clara county may be changing some of their restrictions and gatherings in regards to
Indoor Dining. I want to check in with today in the bays kris sanchez live from san jose with how soon we may be able to have a meal indoors. Its been so long, kris. Reporter i know, weve been dining at home so long. Its been a long seven months since restaurants were able to serve their diners inside. Very welcome news for them this morning. That is something that could change as early as next week. Now that was news that was as welcome as free dessert at santana row with some pretty large restaurants have been accommodating a fraction of the crowds theyre used to under tents outside. San francisco held the line a month longer than required but may be ready to move forward. Here is what has to happen. New cases have to hold steady as fewer than four infections per 100,000 people and the
Positivity Rate has to remain lower than 5 . Restaurants could serve 25 of their indoor capacity or 100 people, whichever is lower. The county could also allow outdoor gatherings of up to 200 people. Restaurants say theyre ready even if diners say theyre not so sure yet. It means a lot for us. That means we get to bring back more
Staff Members to protect them even though theyre taking precautions inside. It feels more safe for me to be outside. Reporter you might wonder what the change in restrictions could mean for halloween. At this point the county considers traditional trickortreating a highrisk activity and is encouraging people to put treats out for people to take instead of giving them. Some of the bay area counties are seeing covid rates that are low enough for reopening. At this point
Sonoma County is leading the state in the top five counties in the state in terms of transmission. Kris sanchez, today in the bay. Its back to the classroom for kids in the east bay. According to berkeley, the city has planned to reopen schools by next week. The new
Safety Measures must be in place to keep students and teachers safe. To reopen berkeley schools will require face coverings, social distancing, limiting class sizes, testing staff once a month and increased cleaning in the classroom. For more than a week folks in the north bay have dealt with uncertainty of the glass fire. Thousands of homes and businesses were destroyed. It appears the firefight is turning the course. An update where things stand this morning. Cierra . Reporter yes, good morning. About a week ago this town was in the midst of those evacuation orders coming in. You can see and smell the smoke and can see that orange glow from the hills. Today it appears this town may be turning a corner on the firefight. Some of the businesses here have reopened including silverado farm. One of the first to reopen and as those folks do return things will look a little different. A lot of devastation left. At least eight wineries here were destroyed or sustained significant damage including the famed castle but that rain, two pockets expected later this week, could aid in the containment of the fire which at last check with cal fire is at more than 40 containment which is good news. For the folks here in napa its a bit of relief following more than a week of uncertainty. Being back in town is really great, just having a solid place to stay is definitely a blessing. Reporter good news for that individual there. Folks do make their way home, be aware of your surroundings, particularly the trees with the fires burning for days. Making your trek back home, be sure to check your surroundings, check your property. Were live in calistoga,
Cierra Johnson for today in the bay. We have a followup. Prosecutors are reopening the investigation into the death of oscar grant. That move, they say, is motivated by the recent deaths of others at the hands of police. A b. A. R. T. Police officer shot and killed grant on new years day back in 2009. The family wants prosecutors to file felony murder charges against another former
Police Officer anthony pirone. Now hes seen in the video kneeling on grants head. The independent internal
Affairs Investigation criticized pirone for escalating tensions that night. Pirone was fired but never charged in the case. 5 39. Time is just flying by, kari hall. You have a look at our temperatures. A nice day for the bay area. I wanted to show how cool it is in santa rosa. Temperatures drop. Were at 44 degrees. You compare that to the upper 50s across the rest of the bay area. As you are getting ready to head out, grb a jacket and our temperatures will be warming up. Antioch today reaching 92 but 62 in
Half Moon Bay. Well talk about our weekend rain chances coming up. How is it looking for the commute . Looking great. No big surprises. That doesnt mean no slowing. The map where weve seen mostly green but notice a counter commute coming out of fremont into sunol. We have more slowing, much more slowing than weve seen for the last half hour as weve been watching the crew clearing through the area over the next 20 minutes. The bay bridge toll plaza. It will get worse. A little slowing at the toll plaza. 5 40 this morning. A showdown over the president s nominee. Still ahead for you on today in the bay the next phase starts on capitol hill. President trump is back at the white house. Joe biden on the campaign trail. Well bring you the latest for decision 2020. A flag on the play. The allnew guidelines the nfl is issuing to teams amid players testing positive for covid19 and the hefty backlash they face ifif they dont folollow prprot. Plus hello, class. Were bringingg backk the movementnt. Uhooh. You heard it there. Jane fononda workiking to g get out to votote. Ththe celebs w who are helelpin out. Lets get ready to exercise. Our cooling trend continues in the forecast coming up. And the slowing trend continues for the area northbound 680. Its a
Construction Zone and actually its better than it was a few minutes ago. Watching for improvement here and the bay bridge is a little bit more crowded. That would be the trend. No metering lights just yet. To decision 2020 and as weve been telling you
President Trump has returned to the white house. Scott mcgrew, he will have to isolate there as he recovers from covid. Yes, have to. You and i would have to isolate. Hes already violated the norms of isolation, doctors say. In the car trip no one was wearing the proper ppe. President trump left walter reed yesterday then instead of going in the normal door in the white house he went out the outside steps, no doubt to show he was feeling better. Now he took off his mask which upset some people but he was entirely alone when he did that. Later he posted a video urging americans not to be afraid of coronavirus. And i know theres a risk. Theres a danger. But thats okay. And now im better, and maybe im immune. I dont know. Dont let it dominate your lives. Get out there. Be careful. We have the best medicines in the world. Theres a lot to be concerned about. 210,000 people have died. You have about 1,000 people a day getting the coronavirus. Its a big concern. I hope no one walks away with the message thinking it is not a problem. Its a serious problem. Now a couple points here. Theres nothing wrong with being afraid of a deadly disease and taking the proper precautions. I dont have mondays numbers yet but 1,860 americans died over the weekend. 976 the day before. 937 the day before that or 911 every four days. The president speculates he may be immune. We know hes not because he literally has coronavirus. Contracting a disease is the opposite of what the word immune means. He was diagnosed late thursday so hes only on day four or five, depending on how you measure it. Remember former republican candidate for president herman kaine died four weeks after his initial diagnosis. He was 74 when he died. Thats the same age as
President Trump. He was also in remission for cancer. President trumps son, eric, has testified under oath in an investigation into tax evasion by the
Trump Organization brought as a civil case by new york state prosecutors. Theres also a criminal case by the d. A. In manhattan. And the son of journalist david frost has found what he says are lost capes of the frost nixon interviews. To this dit the most watched interviews in tv history. As the british journalist interviewed the former president after his resignation. They will run some of those tapes coming up on the today show. Whats causing our spare the air alert. The glass fire is still burning and were continuing to monitor that. Elsewhere weve seen the smoke coming into the east bay. Improving for the bay and the coast. As we look at our high temperatures for this afternoon, a little bit cooler compared to yesterday as we reach up to 81 in milpitas. Still warm in morgan hill with a high of 88 degrees. And then for the east bay were reaching 89 in walnut creek. Oakland today in the mid70s and some 60s along the coastline as
Half Moon Bay only reaches 62. A high of 77 in redwood city. San francisco reaching into the mid50s on the embarcadero. For the north bay 86 degrees in napa today. We are still going to have warm weather for the inland valleys. Big changes ahead. Im watching a lot here. We have a couple systems out in the pacific. One is a weakening hurricane and a possibility that this may get drawn into a low that moves in and enhances the amount of moisture it has to bring into the bay area. Then there will be another one right behind that moving across the
Pacific Northwest and then
High Pressure moves in later in the weekend. Weve been watching whats happening in the gulf as this continues to move over towards the gulf of mexico. Hurricane delta may strengthen to a category 4 and move into louisiana possibly as a category 2. Investigators are also looking for another suspect this woman. In august, protesters marched to liccardo s home and spray painted his front door with profanities. Liccardo was not home at the time. Francisco Examiner is reporting this morning, the current moratorium is set to expire at the end of next month, but new legislation would extend that until march.
