Good moerning, everybody. A lot to get to. In the pacific northwest, air is stagnant right now. The smoke is somewhat suffocating. You can see that from the satellite photo. It is really thick. Now the good news for california is winds are going to switch. It will push the smoke northward but not necessarily good news for oregon or washington. Looking at the satellite radar future, you can see that rain moving towards the coast. That means along the immediate coast were likely to see some rain. But bad news is that rain is not going to get very far inland and were going to see a breeze. Finally at the end of the week some rain and some relief will be moving into interior parts of the pacific northwest. Lets switch gears and talk about Tropical Storm sally. Its still a Tropical Storm. Winds 60 miles an hour. But it is forecast to become a hurricane. Likely a cat 1, but maybe a cat 2. Dont concentrate on the category because its likely to produce storm surge equivalent to that of a cat 3 hurricane. And rainfall. Boy, is it going to rain. This was south florida. They only had 6 to 8 inches or so of rainfall. Key west had more than that. They had a lot of flooding. This storm is going to put on the brakes as it heads into the next 24 to 48 hours into the northern gulf coast area around new orleans and east of that into waveland and biloxi. This is the forecast from the National Hurricane center. A cat 1, but right near the edge of the water. Could become a cat 2. Winds gust over 90 miles an hour. Look at the right angle of that coast. Makes it very vulnerable to storm surge and because its moving ever so slowly, some folks will see over two feet of rainfall. Gayle . Wish there was a way to get that rain to the west coast. Thinking about wyatt, his grandmother and his dog. A huge manhunt is under way for a gunman who ambushed two sheriffs deputies near los angeles. Brings up a lot of emotions for me. We almost lost at least one and could have lost both. Reporter in a News Conference saturday everywhere, l. A. County sheriff Alex Villanueva angrily denounced the shooting. That was a cowardly act. The two deputies were doing their job, minding their own business, watching after the safety of the people on the train and seeing Somebody Just walk up and just start shooting on them. Its later saturday night a small group of antipolice protesters taunted the deputies outside the hospital where they were taken. I hope they die [ bleep ].
