We begin with a developing story in pleasanton where a school was locked down due to a nearby burglary. Sky fox flew over the neighborhood a short time ago. The burglary was less than half a mile from the school. Our cameras from the air and on the ground showed several people being take known custody. A neighbor tells ktvu that two men and one woman knocked on the door of a home. When no one answered, they went around back to get inside. A boy living nearby saw what happened and called authorities. They had an officer at the school to assist students and teachers. The state of california weighing in on the widespread immigration sweep. Christien kafton has the latest from sacramento. Reporter yeah. The attorney general just wrapped up a News Conference addressing the possibility of widespread immigration raids throughout northern california. Ice looking to arrest an estimated 1500 undocumented immigrants, most right here in the bay area. Ices director responding to californias sanctuary state policy says, quote, california better hold on tight. In his News Conference this morning, the attorney general acknowledged the rumors and say that californians need to respect california laws, that bars employers from sharing information about their employees, he says, including immigration status. Regarding what the rumors are, the law is the law. The constitution is the constitution and people have rights. And individuals should not believe that theyre absent of rights, even if theyre immigrants, simply because the rumors are swirling that some enforcement action may be imminent. Reporter he says that he wanted to be sure that californians know their rights and responsibility under california law, both for Law Enforcement officials and general citizens. No word at this time on any timeline on those rumored ice raids. Back to you. Thank you, christien. We have new information about a shootout in pennsylvania that ended in the death of a u. S. Marshal and the gunman, while two Police Officers were also wounded. Authorities were looking for a female suspect early this morning in the city of harrisburg. Thats the capital of pennsylvania, about 160 miles east of pittsburgh. She was wanted by police for terrorist threat offenses. Authorities say it was her boyfriend who shot them. The gun battle occurred at a home two miles from the state capitol. The marshall who died was 45 years old and had been with the Marshall Service for 11 years. One Police Officer was also shot in the arm and another was injured when a bullet hit his body armor. One officer was able to return fire, killing the gunman. The girlfriend is now in custody. Police have arrested a 22 yearold man in connection with a crash that killed a 4year old girl. He was driving a stolen white pickup truck on highway 4 yesterday. Sheriffs deputy followed the vehicle but did not turn on the lights and sigh reps. He pulled off of the road and slammed into a gray pickup truck. Inside the pickup truck, two children and their mother. My husband was on the motorhome and said that the truck went up on its side and exploded all over the place. The 4yearold girl died and the 2yearold suffered critical injuries. The mother was also injured. The man is being held on a Million Dollars bail. President trump visited the pentagon and talked about the potential impact of a Government Shutdown. The group that loses big would be the military. And were never letting our military lose any point. Were going to fund our military. We will have a military like weve never had before. New at noon, the Southern California parents accused of starving their 13 children and keeping them captive will have their First Court Appearance. The couple was officially charged this morning with committing years of torture and abuse. If convicted on all charges, david and Louise Turpin are facing 94 years to life in prison. This morning the District Attorney in Riverside County released new information about the 13 kids who ranged in age from 2 to 29. He said the kids were punished on a variety of reasons, including for washing their hands wrong. One of the reasons for the punishments were if the children were found to wash their hands above the wrist area, they were accused of playing in the water. And they would be chained up. None of the victims have seen a doctor in more than four years. None of the victims have ever seen a dentist. All 13 victims were severely malnourished. As a result some have cognitive impairment. Neighbors continue to react to the horrific ordeal. I would say are you sure there are 12 kids that live there . Because there is no way that you dont hear and see little kids. The childrens grandparents say the last time they saw the children was six years ago. They were all polite and looked healthy and happy. School Board Meeting is being rescheduled for tonight after growing calls for the allen Rock School District in san jose to cut ties with a controversial contractor. Parents and teachers joined a rally last night over what they call is mismanagement. Schools in the district are in need of heating, cooling, new fences and bathrooms. They question the quarter Million Dollar contract with a Southern California contractor called dell terra that was hired to do the work. It is now under an investigation after a state audit that was critical of the company. For them to be stretching to Southern California for this contract screams to me of a problem. The parents and teacher thats attended say they want the board to cut ties with del terra. However the school board says it did not have enough members present to conduct the official meeting. Several Board Members received Campaign Contributions from the company. The army corps of engineers is beginning an emergency project to open up debris basins before the next storm hits Southern California. Deborah villa leon.
