We do have low clouds out there but they will start clearing out as we get into the afternoon. Take a look at the radar and you can see what im talking about we still have and onshore flow happening. We still have clouds with us with a High Pressure building in and when it does it will really make a difference and start to bring sunshine and temperatures that are going to start to clump up as well. We will see some improvement throughout the day today. As you take a look here again the wind is relatively calm with a slight onshore flow changing as High Pressure builds in. Its warming up in oakland at 57 and 54 in san jose. So today the forecast highs will be about 60 at the coast with low to mid 60s around the bay and low 70s the theres the different as we get into inland communities. We talk about how warm were going to get for now, back to the desk. New this morning, fire crews are putting out hot spots from an earlymorning home fire in orinda, Sara Zendehnam joined us live from home with more on that fire, good morning. Good morning, it was a very tense hour when the fire was raging and thankfully the fire is under control and no one was hurt. You can hear popping in this video shared with us on twitter. The Fire District says explosions were reported but what exact we exploded is under investigation. This all started just before 5 am in orinda. The battalion chief on scene said they believed the fire started in the garage and spread to the house but havent made the official determination yet. There was one person inside the house when the fire broke out they were able to get out the car in the driveway caught on fire and rolled into a fire engine but no First Responders were hurt in the engine appears to be okay. During this time of social distancing, it was tough for neighbors who wanted to know what was going on while also being concerned about coronavirus. Certainly a lot of concern and obviously theres a problem of the pandemic and then everyone is curious. I think that created dangerous conditions of people wanting to talk to each other while also maintaining social distance but we are always sensitive to fire around here because we know how fast it spreads in the dry month. Definitely a stressful situation during this stressful time. But no one was hurt in this fire. Reporting live, Sara Zendehnam, ktvu, fox 2 news. Medical experts say the coronavirus numbers for california and the pay area are continuing to trend well thats good news. Bay area residents are learning a costly lesson about taking shelter in place orders purpose and is a woman and her family went to the beach in Santa Cruz County for what she called a mental break from the confines of home. She said she was taking a photo of the scenic view of the ocean when a sheriffs deputy approached the issued her a 1000 citation for violating the Public Health order. Another woman tells us that the threat of dollar fines is forcing her and her husband from the peach over the easter weekend. They are known for lively music and as always, music will still play a big part in an uplifting part of todays festivities. The pandemic has Church Leaders from around the world going online for their Easter Services that is a way to connect their congregations, even during the shelter in place orders the bishop of oaklands World Assembly churches among those holding a virtual easter celebration on facebook this morning Bishop Keith Clark is also dealing with a personal crisis directly tied to the coronavirus pandemic his 72yearold father is now recovering after being infected. The ambulance came to get them from the house and i had to stand across the street because of the virus. Expect bishop clarks father is also a religious leader in oakland and was taken off the ventilator on wednesday and fortunately is now on the road to recovery. A lot of folks are going to be in their backyard to imagine for the holiday, lets chicken to find out when that marine layer will get the heck out of here. The answer is this afternoon, we are going to see clouds clear out and i too will be one of the people celebrating at home today and certainly we are all doing that to keep everybody safe, but were gonna have sunshine that will show up and make things better for you today. I think we can be think for that as we head into our Easter Sunday. Taking a look at the temperatures today were going to see them a little warmer because we should kick the clouds and about 60 degrees and inland we could see 70s or low 70s with temperatures going up from there. Lets take a current look that weve gotten out of the 40s at least, the leo is at 53 degrees and heading over to east bay hayward is cool at 49 and 57 in oakland and 53 in dublin and the peninsula there at San Francisco is 51. So its clear at the coast you can see again some places are starting to warm up and san jose is about 51 degrees per is the big picture, the low pressure bringing up clouds and damp weather has started to move to the east. High pressure is starting to build in and when that reels and is it means it will push the clouds out of the way we are going to get stories as we go through the afternoon. We still have some low clouds out there and certainly they will stick around is to go throughout part of our dayto day but then the afternoon works its way out with mostly sunny skies about 63 around the bay and 75 today pretty see it going from warmer so futurecast shows us the starts clouds start to clear out. You see them for to 6 p. M. And it looks like the possibility of unstable air that could cause a pop up shower but other than that we should be nice and clear with the futurecast showing on monday things look nice on tuesday even as we work our way in and temperatures peak in the tuesday wednesday time. Clouds to sunshine today for easter, sunny and warmer on monday and a smaller system possibly trying to get attacked gather friday and saturday we talk more about that in a bit. We all know masks are in high demand away know people making their own to help out. The danville woman started to make cow masks for friends and family and it turned into so much more. Debbie has made 50 masks in the last couple weeks and the favorite is the you see berkeley mask and they come in all different designs. And she teamed up with their neighbor to find a home for all their hard work and they quickly found a hospital in east bay that says bring them on in. I reached out to a doctor at kaiser in walnut creek and asked if he could use some masks. And she took a dozen and said let me put them out there. Then, she loved the size in the design because they could fit over the n95 masks and other medical masks they were using. She said she would take as many as i could make. Give us a tour of what you have in front of you. I have circles and stripes leaves with stripes, frogs with more frogs. Cats. More frogs and then jills designs are fish with a soft flannel on the other side and, you know, what i will do before i deliver them is wash them in hot water, put them in a hot drier and then take them out with gloves and put them in a baggie and seal them up. Talk about how cathartic it is to make something for the greater good flex its amazing that they will get used, its an unbelievable feeling to know that these will put a smile on somebodys face whether somebody wearing them or the person looking at them. As long as they are wearing them, i will make them. She is still making them and it takes about 30 minutes to make a mass, her crew is been busy and theyve made another 28 and are working on another batch for local firefighters so i job done well. Debbie koenig in danville. Yes, fantastic. Great job debbie and its great to see other people come together to do what they can to help out in this pandemic we hope that everybody today gets a little bit of a break from the worry and maybe goes out has an Easter Egg Hunt in their backyard. If they do, maybe instead of brunch, and afternoon festivity is maybe the best plan. Yes. Maybe we will see the sun breaking throughout the morning , hopefully, i hope you get a shot at it into the afternoon. So, i bring a little bit of good news. We are going to see nicer warm weather as we head into the week take a look at the temperatures right now, you can see in oakland, already warming up and 54 in hayward, san jose is about 54 degrees as we head across today. He will see a change in our pattern as High Pressure starts to build in. That is going to be the difference that were going to see has the forecast develops. As we take a look at today we start off with a. M. Clouds and worker went to afternoon sunshine with slightly warmer temperatures. So what we see at the coast about 60 degrees, its more like low 70s for those of you inland. Take a look at the highs, just to give an idea of the big picture, 63 in oakland, 68 in morgan hill, and antioch is also looking at low 70s. If you take a look at today, we kind of have an average day, average temperatures on the left, for example we take santa rosa at 68 and today see 70 thats pretty close, today 61, and again oakland is overachieving today, a little bit this morning so there up to about 66, 69 is the average for livermore in san jose and they will be close to that as well. Here is whats coming our way as we head into the rest of the week High Pressure is building in and, as it does, we see more sunshine and warming temperatures. So, while today the High Pressure starts to take hold we will see temperatures rocket up and it will peak about tuesday into wednesday as High Pressure really takes a hold but by the weekend things will start to cool down again. The average of 69 degrees is where we will be today but by tuesday were talking about a high of 77 degrees. Monday will be warm and tuesday will be warmer and wednesday into thursday we start to pull back if you look at the temperatures for today, pumping up from 8 to 10 degrees or 11 to 12 degrees depending on where you are between now and tuesday. If we look at the futurecast, we do basically have a very sweet week on tap with dry weather and lots of sunshine there is a weak system that will be approaching as we get later into the week. If you look at thursday, the clouds they can up on by friday there is a weak system trying to coming models will see those whether its just clouds and cooler temperatures. A look at forecast shows temperatures peaking and friday we see a pattern change with warm weather and sunshine on tap. Up next, coronavirus is tourism, explaining to ensure people can travel again. All right the time is 9 40 am and its time to talk about the weather i know a lot of people are planning backyard celebrations, maybe some brunch outside and a little bit of time for it to warm back up. Yes hopefully we kick the clouds as we head into the afternoon but its not exactly happening for the morning but i am hopeful that High Pressure will nudge that out of the way with a much better afternoon than morning. But things are going to shape up and be warmer than yesterday with the wind relatively calm as i mentioned before. Take a look at the temperatures we will see as you go throughout the day today you can see the highs today are 60 at the coast below 70s for those inland its going to be a little warmer than yesterday and again, sunshine this afternoon with current temperatures right now, kernville, 52 degrees, petaluma, 54, and as we head to the east bay, 57 in san leandro and union city about 54 fremont 52 and down the peninsula you can see San Francisco at 51 degrees. We are trying to get a little warmth in their and 54 in san jose currently at this hour so, here is the the picture, low pressure moving east and High Pressure now is going to Start Building in. When that happens, clear skies and warmer temperatures are what follows, that is what peter set to see. As you can see , the routes are still with us but there are starting to be a few tiny breaks here and there and more of you will see it as the day goes on today. 60 in the coast, 63 around the pay and 75 inland as we work our way up to sims sunny skies so, get ready to enjoy that forecast there is a little instability this afternoon notice at 46 p. M. In north bay it looks short lived with the pump shower then sunshine into monday and, as you can see into tuesday as well that isnt until the end of the week that we start to see the possibility of another system coming our way it looks like a weak system. Sunny and warmer than today on monday and more warm on tuesday with another system coming our way as we had to next week and we talk about that in the extended forecast but for now, send it back to you guys. The travel and Tourism Industry is taking a big hit during the pandemic we tell you what travel experts say it could be in terms of a timeline on when the industry could rebound. Up next, overcoming fear and anxiety and troubling times , and accomplished motivational speaker explains how to cope. Were all doing our part by staying at home. That could mean an increase in energy bills. You can save by setting your heat to 68 or lower. Unplugging and turning off devices when not in use. Or just letting the sun light your home. Stay well and keep it golden. Step by step, were going to figure this out. Were gonna find a way through this. Were working really, really hard in hospitals, our nurses, our techs, all the docs. Its about staggering when people get sick so that the hospitals can cope. Were gonna go through an awful lot of these. All across puget sound, people have been stepping up and donating personal protective equipment. We stay at work. For you. You stay at home for us. Just know were all with you. Thank you, thank you so much. Thank you doctors nurses. Welcome back, 20 healthcare workers from ucsf are in new york city this morning to help those out on the front lines. Sacrifice. Selflessness. Were stepping up to the cause to serve people. Santa cruz police are making sure the public complies with the city shelter in place order. Santa cruz police chief andy mills tweeted a photo of seven men from fremont accused of entering the city to have drinks. Each man was given a 1000 citation. If you dont live in santa cruz, you are putting the community at risk by visiting and you will get a ticket. The city says its not the time to get out and party. The traveling industry is feeling the impact of the coronavirus pandemic is people shelter in place prepare canceling vacations at least for the short term. So i talked with travel expert, gave up the short term and what is the impact, who in the industry is faring better than others and we talked about the possible light at the end of the tunnel its never been anything so pervasive britz affected coasttocoast andsing sector of the industry is affected, Airline Capacity is from 90 slashing through the end of april. Domestic slashing through the end of may and things might start to turn around in june with that being the light at the end of the tunnel on the Hotel Industry looking at 45 to 50 projections on job losses hotel workers. So, thats probably temporary to. Yes most of that a temporary. Car rentals are doing better than people expect you said . Yes, interesting people are making reservations for someone in the car rental space. People are projecting when its okay to leave the house and were not ready for an International Trip and we could be ready and anxious to get out of here and to get immediate family into her car but relatively close and ideally going to be the first type of travel and picked up short drive market destinations and the travel will take longer you talk about gina and the light at the end of the tunnel. Disneyland, southwest are looking as hopefully we sort of get the green light crossing our fingers . Its all driven by the mandate that we are all daily listening to and following, and they are working so we want to continue to do that, Disney Resort is taking reservations on june 1 and Southwest Airlines announced that they are restarting the california to hawaii flights are starting up in june 7. So, lily based on what we are seeing now, the projections are that june could be where we start to see things will back to normal. I think we will see a deals bonanza if things go as we expect them to which is on the other side of the apex we start to see mandates lifted loosened up and we see a bonanza with travel as an expensive as its been in a long time. It would be nice to think about traveling again. The International Travel agency in the cruiseship agency will take the longest to recover. International travel will depend on when other countries take down restrictions and allow people to travel to the countrys biggest part is the crude industry, he says thats going to be about messaging and the cruise Industry Needs to reassure people about cleaning procedures and safety onboard. Its going to take time. Sheltering in places helping with the pandemic it can also cause anxiety. I spoke with Michelle Sullivan who is a motivational speaker and a woman who is in her life seeing things differently. She suffers from a rare form of course is him and stands only 4 feet tall. She says there is goodness in everything, even social isolation. We are getting back to the days when i grew up ate together at the dinner table. Thats going on today. So its all about the we are one we are acting as one because we are all staying inside so we dont impact other people. Our gratitude is growing by the day for the people who are in the stores and putting the food on the shelves, so the nurses, doctors and other hospital staff are keeping people alive the teachers, we have more gratitude than we ever have for teachers now, because the people are home schooling and finding out its not that easy. But, youre also spending a lot of time with people you love and that is a great thing dont overlook that. There is a Silver Lining out there and michelle also said dont be afraid to ask for help its not a sign of weakness and so necessary during difficult times. Also, dont be shy about offering help to others. All great advice but i just got a facebook message saying let also think all the delivery drivers and the people who are working on the front lines others healthcare workers but strivers also, people in Grocery Stores and really its Pretty Amazing lets just take a moment today to save thank you and i think people have done that every day during this pandemic. I would be in the dark if it werent for the delivery guy that brought this like thats shining in my face [ laughter ] i pet. He dropped the box and i always open the door and say thank you because ive been trying not to order things is much as i can but im so thankful for the people at the Grocery Stores and ive been saying thank you, thank you. We have some whether to be thankful for. We are about to get some sunshine and warmth, how about that, thats not a bad thing especially considering how cloudy weve been. Current temperatures are 52, 51 in San Francisco and redwood city is 55 and livermore, good morning, 53 degrees for you. So, we are starting off with low 50s to mid50s popping up out there that we start to see that such a change and all of that start to improve as High Pressure takes control. You could see where the cloud cover is and you can start to see a few breaks here and there with no real clear breaks yet because we get into the afternoon there should be some clearing happening the clouds are clear and then we get temperatures for inland communities, up to the low 70s, little warmer than yesterday and here are the highs for places like antioch in fairfield, 69 in san jose, 61 in San Francisco and its a little bit warmer than yesterday. Then, as we look at kind of where we are today compared to average, or having about an average day today so santa rosa about 68 degrees and 70 today, we will be in the low 60s with oakland a couple degrees below. Livermore and san jose are right about average today. But, the difference will happen one High Pressure takes hold so once it really starts to dig in the that is when the clouds have a hard time moving in. So what we are seeing the morning clouds this morning, people see that disappearance we get into the later afternoon and then overnight into tomorrow when we start off with the sunshine a little more than tomorrow then we certainly have today or yesterday.
