The City of Laredo issued a lockdown of in response to the coronavirus threat on Tuesday. The order goes into effect at midnight Wednesday and will extend for 14 days. It prohibits the gathering of 10 or more persons and closes malls, entertainment centers, fitness centers and banquet halls. It allows restaurants to open only with drive-thru, delivery or take out service. Essential businesses like medical facilities, veterinarian and grocery establishments are allowed. Offices spaces and places of employment can remain open as long the 10-person rule is followed. Violation of the carries a fine that ranges from $50 to $2,000. The Laredo Police Department will enforce the order. Paulitaâs owner Jorge Santa Anna said that he would try out the takeout option but after seeing a drop in business starting on Tuesday, he thinks he'll have to close for the duration of the order.Jerry Lara/San Antonio Express-News
